Ben Morgan-Brown’s new E.P. Nameless Gold is a live in the studio, one guitar and one voice affair.

Recorded one chilly January morning, it features three songs and two instrumentals, all of which demonstrate Ben’s growing mastery of the acoustic guitar, a new confidence in his singing, and the continued development of his artistic voice.

All tracks are first takes, capturing the moment of performance in the studio with no edits or overdubs.

Track Name: Nameless Gold
Nameless gold, a story to be told,
My Old Man, reduced to a wedding band,
Our hand’s so different, this ring is not the same,
I will cherish it, and wear it in your name

New Year’s Eve, a woman met by chance,
Divorcees, our lives on similar paths,
But when you were my age, a little boy you held,
And a girl soon on her way, a family man unveiled

Nameless gold, a story to be told,
My Old Man, present on my hand,
Our lives once separate, they came together well
And I will not forget, the stories I can tell
Track Name: Ten Years Passing
Uninvited revelation strikes me,
Ten years passed in quite a short time it seemed,
Takes a moment to understand what that means

Left the big smoke, moved down next to the sea,
Listening to folk, selling fudge and ice cream,
Sounds like a joke but, that was the life of my dreams

Moving on now, books in Piccadilly,
Meet a girl there, four years later married,
If I’d know what I know, I’d have stayed where I’d been

Freedom granted, ventured out New Year’s Eve,
Wah Wah dancing, wine spilt over my jeans,
With this new love it’s just like learning to breath

Find the right stone, skim it into the sea,
Thinking ‘bout home, and whatever that means,
Who’d have thought it would end up being how it’s been?

Ten Years Passing, and this much I have seen,
Love and loss death and divorce proceedings,
I’m the man that I am because of these things
Track Name: Only So Young
As those photographs catch my eye,
Reminding me time’s passing by,
Keeps passing by

Holding onto him, feeling I
Might want to, might want to cry
Sometimes I just want to cry

And I can’t help but wonder why

As these feelings pass I know I’m,
Only So Young, time’s passing by,
Keeps passing by

And I can’t help but wonder why
I can’t help but wonder why
I’ve been biding my time
